The water is available during the spring and summer months, and although the park stays open through the winter, the water is shut off to prevent the lines from freezing. The poop bags are regularly stocked, and the garbage cans are often emptied. There is a nice amount of space at this dog park which makes it a good attraction for canines with a lot of energy.
There is enough space for you to play games like fetch and wear your canine down. The ground here is grass and stays in relatively good shape. The Mercer County Dog Park is kept clean and maintained, and they cut the grass regularly. Some of the highly trafficked areas have worn down into a dirt area, and your dog can get quite dirty. Those issues compound on rainy days or after heavy rainfall.
There are benches available here inside the gate and along the fence line of both sections of the dog park. None of this seating have any shelters built above them or trees to create some natural shade, but if you are willing to stand, there are trees inside the fenced section that provide some lovely natural shade through most hours of the day.
Outside of the Mercer County Dog Park, this park has tons of walking trails and other attractions like sports fields and playgrounds that make this place worthwhile. Your canine is required to remain on a leash anytime they are outside of the fenced dog park, but if you are looking to wear out your canine a long walk through the park might do the trick.
