Looking for a puptastic place to take your four legged friend? Then it’s time to head over to Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area and discover what makes this park so pawsome. Nestled in the Hadley Township of Lapeer County, this lovely recreation area is comprised of 723 acres of land and features the 80-acre Lake Minnewanna.
The first thing your pup will want to do when they arrive
is hit the trails. And who can blame them? It’s a good thing the park has six
miles worth of trails that weave through the property. Your pup will love
wandering through the woods and fields. They can sniff the trees to their heart’s
content. Since clean-up bags aren’t
provided by the park, make sure you bring some along and stoop and scoop when
necessary. Also, carry enough cold water
to keep you and your furry companion well hydrated.
With Lake Minnewanna on site, this park is a pupular
place for watersports. If you don’t have your own boat, canoes and kayaks can
be rented at Metamora-Hadley Campground Store and Beach Concession between
Memorial Day and Labor Day. If your pooch is extra adventurous, take them for a
spin around the lake. If not, hang back on the shore and try your luck at
fishing. Swimming and paddle sports are also common activities. If you are just visiting
for the day, stop by the picnic area for lunch. The campground is open for
guests from April to November. Here, you’ll find spots that accommodate both RV
and tent campers. Â
To enjoy some fun in the sun at Metamora-Hadley
Recreation Area, you need a Recreation Pass. Michigan residents can purchase an
annual pass for $11.00 at the time of license renewal. Out of staters can visit the park for a daily
fee of just $9. Regardless of where you come from, you and your pooch will have
a woofderful time at this park!
