Niles Avenue Dog Park

Has Maggie been a couch potato lately? Then why not take your furbaby to the Niles Avenue Dog Park in South Bend, Indiana? Here, Maggie can enjoy the doggy agility course and run around off-leash. This is the city’s first dog park, and Maggie will love the well-maintained grass and sturdy surrounding fence. 

It turns out this beautiful open space had been used as an unofficial dog park for years. Finally, the city raised money to make it permanent. They also added some great doggy amenities (like the fence). Dog owners interested in sustainability will treasure this unique dog park. Amazingly, all the furnishings were made out of recycled materials! 

Picture Maggie having a blast playing and peeing on the recycled fire hydrant. Your pooch can also show off some talent on the used playground equipment. Dog owners will also appreciate the picnic tables and shady trees. And Maggie will be grateful for the water spigot that’s turned on during the summer months. 

Dog owners should keep an eye on smaller dogs in the small dog park. Although unlikely, a few teeny canines might be able to weasel their ways through the fence. On the positive side, there doesn't seem to be any designated hours at the park so Maggie can venture here anytime. 

This park comes equipped with poo bags, doggy toys, and trash bins. So make sure you not only play but also clean up Maggie’s doo. And be prepared for some mud after a rainstorm because although Maggie will have a blast, owners may have to bathe their pooch when returning home.
