Overpeck County Dog Park (at the Henry Hoebel Area)

Overpeck County Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Henry Hoebel Area in Leonia, New Jersey. In addition to the dog park, the 811-acre county park that is spread out in several sections is home to a 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial, baseball and soccer courts, tennis fields, a playground, and 1.25 miles of biking, jogging and hiking trails with lakeside views.

The park also features a fitness field, an equestrian center, and paddocks. The dog park is located on the north side of the Henry Hoebel Area, across the street from the Bergen Equestrian Center, by the great lawn. The south of the park features picnic areas, a fishing pier and nature trails that are ideal for bird watching. 

Public bathrooms are also available and can be found by the spacious parking lots, both of which are several minutes away from the dog park. The Overpeck County Dog Park is set in a beautiful location, right next to a scenic creek. It is securely fenced and has a well-thought-out layout that is made up of two separate off-leash areas for dogs to enjoy. 

Both areas have separate entrances and provide tons of room for dogs to play and socialize. There are lots of large trees growing within the runs, as well as around the dog park. Finding a shaded spot too cool off in is never a problem at this dog park. The park’s surface consists of gravel, wood chips, and grass. 

There are some agility obstacles that dogs can use, such as the agility tunnel and a fake fire hydrant in the small dog area. The dog park is well-maintained and clean for the most part. However, since there are no dog waste bag dispensers, owners have to make sure to bring their own if they plan to visit the dog park.
