In Lupton, Michigan lies the Rifle River and the Rifle River Recreation Area which is a state park inside of the Au Sable State Forest. The Rifle River Recreation is roughly 4,500-acres with so much to do from tubing, biking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, hunting and even fishing. There are places to camp and trails to be hiked. This is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway or a day in nature with your four-legged friend. Your dog will love roaming the vast outdoors and shorelines of the Rifle River with you.
The Rifle River is a dog-friendly area where dogs are allowed off and on-leash. It’s highly recommended that dogs be on-leash on trails or if they are not good with voice commands. Dogs cannot go into any of the public buildings or on playground equipment. Also, keep in mind dogs are not allowed in public swimming areas for the safety of all. The park does ask that you clean up after yourself and your beloved pet. It might be a good idea to bring water and waste bags in order to properly take care of your pet.
If you let your dog roam off-leash, be sure to carry the leash, just in case. Michigan is a vast outdoor playground, especially at the Rifle River.
