The Rockaway Freeway Dog Park is a 2.25-acre off-leash area for exercising dogs in New York City. For any canine suffering from being too cooped up in an urban environment, this is the place to take them!

All pup parents should remember that off-leash time for their dog doesn't start until they're inside the designated zone. This dog park in Queens is great for both small breeds and large breeds. With three sections, there's no getting under each other's paws here. The big dogs have a huge field all to themselves, and so do the miniature pups. The third area contains agility equipment for the athletic woofers.

Each off-leash enclosure is secure, so there are no worries of any pup escaping through the fencing. There are also trees and shrubbery around the border which makes the dog park look as if it were in the countryside rather than in the city. Leashing and unleashing is a safe process as there are gated staging areas.

Even though dogs have a lot of space to run around at this dog park, they're still expected to be on their best behavior. Rough and tumble is permissible, but not if it gets out of hand. Pet parents need to be vigilant of what their dog is doing and intervene promptly if they suspect their pup is about to misbehave. 

Pet parents should also be on the ball when it comes to poop scooping. Trash bins and waste bag dispensers are provided, so there's no excuse for leaving it laying on the grass. This park also has benches for humans and a drinking fountain to keep canines hydrated. 

Though a bit farther away from the heart of the city, the Rockaway Freeway Dog Park gives New York's canine citizens plenty of room to run, making it a furrific place to take your pooch!
