The Howard & Erna Soldan Dog Park, or the Soldan Dog Park, as some call it, is a park for members only. It is located adjacent to the Hawk Island County Park in Lansing, Michigan. In addition to the fob-accessible dog park, the 100-acre community park is home to a splash pad, rowboat and pedal boat rental, fishing docks, sand volleyball, a swimming beach, and several picnic areas with shelters.Â
There are also one and a half miles of paved walkways that run throughout the park. Leashed dogs are welcome everywhere in the park except for the beach, splash pad and playgrounds. The 15-acre Sodan Dog Park is very highly rated due to its size, landscaping, and offered amenities. The park has all you would need in a dog park and more.Â
It has a well-thought-out layout that consists of natural, ungroomed areas with plenty of trails, a large pond with a sandy beach and swimming area, as well as a grassy, open space perfect for canine playtime and games of fetch. Since the dog park is so vast and wooded, it is an ideal location for dogs who enjoy sniffing around and exploring as much as they love running and playing with their four-legged buddies.Â
The natural setting of this well-maintained dog park is stunning, thus walking or playing with your canine best friend will feel like a lot of fun and not at all like a chore. The dog park is equipped with human and doggie water fountains so owners won’t have to worry about their pooches staying hydrated as they experience this huge park.Â
There is also a dog washing station which is very convenient especially if your dog ends up splashing in a puddle or rolling in the ungroomed, grassy area. Free dog waste bags are also provided. The annual access pass costs $30 and according to the regular patrons of this park - it is well worth it! Plus, there are student, senior and veteran discounts available and service dogs get a discount too. If you are not sure if the park is worth the investment, check it out using a $5 daily pass.
