A dog-friendly property, South Higgins Lake State Park permits dogs on their grounds and in their camping areas so long as they remain on a lead. There are two portions of beach on this property that are designated for dog use, but on all other beaches, dogs are restricted from the premises.Â
There is not a specific area reserved for dog play at this park, and there are no amenities provided for canine use. To be certain Fido has access to a drink when needed, owners should bring drinking water with them from home. It is also important for owners to note that park officials expect that they will clean up after their pets and properly dispose of their waste.
South Higgins Lake State Park is a private recreational site and campground. With this in mind, entrance to the grounds necessitates a fee. At the time of license plate renewals, owners may pay an additional $11 to obtain a Recreation Passport which permits access to all Michigan parks for a period of one full calendar year.Â
Alternatively, non-residents may pay a fee of $9 for a day pass or $32 for an annual permit. South Higgins Lake State Park offers many recreational activities for families to enjoy. These include fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and even metal detecting.Â
There is also a camp store housed on the grounds though visitors do note that it is quite expensive. All canine visitors to South Higgins Lake State Park are required to be current on all immunizations. A city dog license is also an excellent idea. Looking for a new place for Fido and the family to explore? Why not stop in at South Higgins Lake State Park?
