Though Ann Arbor typically prohibits off-leash activity within city limits, there are several dog parks throughout the city dedicated to this purpose. Swift Run Dog Park is one of those facilities. The public is welcome to visit this dog playground; however, an off-leash permit is required to access the grounds.Â
In order to obtain the required permit, owners must submit the following items to the Swift Run Dog Park staff for consideration: a current rabies certificate, proof of city dog licensing, the signed release form, and the appropriate fee. Permits begin at $50 for the first dog in each household and $10 for each subsequent dog.
However, with furnished proof of spay or neuter, discounted prices are available at $35 for the first dog and $5 for the second and each dog thereafter. Park officials also require that all dog tags showing proof of rabies, licensing, and identification be visible at all times.Â
On the premises for the enjoyment of Fido and his owners are walking trails and benches. Bathrooms are available for public use. Unfortunately, water is not provided on the premises. Owners should bring a bottle of water with them from home as well as a dog dish.Â
Visitors to this space do lament that it is extremely muddy when wet. Though poop bags are located on-site, they are sometimes in short supply. To ensure you have one when you need it, it is wise to bring a few extra from home. Looking for a great new dog playground? Swift Run Dog Park is just what the doctor ordered!Â
