There is a great dog park in Oceanport, New Jersey and you will find it in the Wolf Hill Recreation Area. This dog park has parking spaces right alongside the entrance so it is not far to go from car to park before pups can be unleashed. At this Oceanport dog park, there is a grand total of four acres for fur babies to frolic in.
If a pooch weighs in at under thirty-five pounds, then they get to romp in the small dog section out of the way of the big dogs and where no harm will come to them. While both off-leash areas are huge, they do lack quite a bit of grass. There is some, but it is pretty patchy, so the dog park can get dusty at times. Do the dogs bother about the lack of lawn? Not usually, as they are too busy having a good time.
The Wolf Hill Dog Park is an unusual circular shape, so the dogs can run themselves silly clockwise or anti-clockwise whichever suits their mood. The only downside with this dog park is when the sun is blazing there is no shade for the dogs. The owners fair a little better. There are a couple of patio areas in the large dog section with gazebos, picnic tables, and benches.
There is a similar installation in the small dog zone. Another plus for pet owners is the porta-potty in the car park. While the Monmouth County authorities are kind enough to provide waste stations with poop bags, there is no water supply at the dog park. Owners should take a jug of water with them and a drinking bowl for their dog.
Poop bags are available at the Wolf Hill Dog Park, though, and they are for the purpose of being used. Turning a blind eye and ignoring a squatting dog is not being a responsible pet owner. Pick up what your pup deposits as the dog park is supervised by park rangers, and no-one wants to get on the wrong side of one of those.
