Description

Comanche Lookout Park is a scenic 96-acre park that’s filled with trails you and your pup will both love! The park has 4.5 miles of trails that all connect with each other, allowing you to easily customize your hike. These trails take you up stunning hills and through beautiful woodland areas. Dogs are welcome to join you in this furrific park on-leash.

Parking for Comanche Lookout Park is available by the Semmes Branch Library. One of the park’s trails begins right by the parking lot, the 0.1-mile Library Main Trail. This trail is the only paved trail in Comanche Lookout Park, and it’s home to nine pieces of exercise equipment.

The Library Main Trail connects to one of the longest trails in the park: the 0.6-mile Library Loop Trail. This unpaved, hilly trail takes you through a forest filled with native trees and vegetation, including juniper ash, chinaberry, Texas and Mexican buckeye, granero, and honey mesquite. There are also a few picnic tables along the trail where you can relax and have a snack with your pup.

If you’d like to extend your hike, the Library Loop Trail connects to the 0.8-mile Comanche Loop, which takes you deeper into the forest. The Comanche Loop also offers access to the 0.5-mile Tower Trail. This trail takes you to a historic, medieval-style stone tower, which was built in the early 1900s by Army Colonel Edward H. Coppock. The Tower Trail also takes you the highest point in the park, where you’ll get great views of the surrounding forest.

Comanche Lookout Park is a beautiful and historic park that has tons of great trails to hike on with your pup. Remember to bring doggy bags so you can clean up after your dog while you’re hiking, and have fun trekking in this scenic park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
