If you’re searching for the best wet dog food for your fur-baby, you might be wondering whether the Beneful Chopped Blends range of recipes is the right choice. Produced by Nestlé Purina PetCare, the Chopped Blends selection includes 6 recipes that offer a variety of different protein sources. But is Beneful Chopped Blends wet dog food the right choice for your dog? Let’s take a closer look at the flavors available, the ingredients used, and what customers have to say about this wet food range.
Overview
Beneful is one of the many brands in the Purina dog food range. Beneful products include dry, wet (including chopped, shredded, chunky, and paté options), and soft foods as well as doggy treats.
Purina markets the Chopped Blends range as offering “finely chopped bites with a touch of sauce”. Recipes are prepared in US facilities using real protein sources, are designed to be easy to chew, and don’t feature any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
The 6 different recipes in the Purina Chopped Blends range are sold in 10-ounce tubs. You can also purchase variety packs that feature 6 or 12 tubs. Flavors included in these variety packs are:

Ingredients
The main protein sources in Beneful Chopped Blends are lamb, chicken, beef, turkey, and salmon. Beneful emphasises the use of real proteins in all its recipes, and each of the 6 recipes features a protein source among the list of its 5 main ingredients.
Each protein also offers its own nutritional benefits. Turkey, for example, provides amino acids and glucosamine for muscle and joint health.
The 6 available flavors also come with a range of vegetables, minerals, and other ingredients that can help provide nutritional benefits for your dog. These include dried peas, which are a source of protein and fiber, and dried carrots that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Vegetables are also used to provide variety in your dog's diet, while other ingredients like fiber-rich brown rice help provide energy and aid proper digestion.

Ratings
As we’ve already mentioned, Beneful is one of the many brands that comes under the umbrella of Nestlé Purina Petcare, one of the largest dog food manufacturers in the world. It’s a Better Business Bureau accredited business and has an A+ rating from the bureau, which at the time of writing had closed 20 complaints against Nestlé Purina Petcare in the past 3 years.
On ConsumerAffairs.com, Beneful Pet Foods has an overall rating of 3.9 out of 5 at the time of writing from almost 800 ratings. Those who praised Beneful products singled out their palatability, mix of flavors, and healthy ingredients as being worthy of mention. However, those that were critical of Beneful products claim that the foods caused vomiting and other digestive issues for their pets.
It’s also worth mentioning that Beneful also made headlines in 2015 when it was the subject of a class-action lawsuit alleging that its dog food sickened or killed 1,400 dogs. However, the lawsuit was dismissed in 2016. The court’s findings included the point that “there is no evidence such as an evaluation by a veterinarian that a dog actually did get sick or die because it ate Beneful.”
So is Beneful Chopped Blends wet dog food the right choice for your pet? That's up to you to decide. Compare its nutritional features, ingredients, cost, and palatability with what other dog foods have to offer before deciding what to feed your fur-baby.
