Vandalia City Center
In the City Center neighborhood of Vandalia, you and your fur-ever friend can enjoy some quality hiking throughout the city on the Lincoln Walking Trail. Meandering throughout this neighborhood, you and Fido can stroll on this paved path, over footbridges and through scenic areas. The path is pup-friendly and allows you to take Fido on a walking adventure for over one mile. The terrain is rated as easy and suitable to all pup-abilities. Keep your pup on leash on this well-travelled trail. It is advised to bring plenty of water and mutt mitts to keep the trail sparkling for all.

W Jefferson St/ W Randolph St
How about visiting Kelly Park in the West Jefferson Street/ West Randolph Street neighborhood of Vandalia? This city block park offers courts for the sports’ enthusiast, and lots of open green space where you and your pawtastic pup can relax and unwind. Fifi will love taking an on-leash stroll with you along the paved walking paths which meander throughout. Or try Rogier Park which is a small park offering grassy areas to walk with them on leash. This historic park also has markers which depict where Abraham Lincoln sauntered through on his walks along the road once passing through here.

Brownstown
In the village of Brownstown, 8 miles northeast of Vandalia, there are two parks which will delight any pup! Brownstown Park is a small park with open space and grassy areas for you to relax the day away with Fido. A child’s playground tops off the amenities here. Or try Old Park that is more spacious and offers scenic views. Take Fido for a walk in the open spaces or visit the landscaped areas with picnic tables and shelters. Three ponds for fishing or relaxing by water’s edge are features here. Keep Fido on leash and bring mutt mitts.

North Vandalia
In the North Vandalia neighborhood, of the city of Vandalia, your ticket to fun in the great outdoors is Vandalia Lake. This area offers pup-friendly camping on the lake at their on-site campground and has a great public park section. You can let the kiddos play on the playground or take Fido for an on leash walk throughout the open green spaces and along the paved and natural surface walking paths. Bring your fishing pole to catch dinner for you both. Find some out-of-the-way areas along the lakefront where Fido can take a swim. Restrooms and water are located here.
Coffeen
The city of Coffeen, just 19 miles northwest of Vandalia, is home to the Coffeen Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area where you can do some outdoor exploration with your fur-ever friend by your side. This is prime location for area fisherman and offers a lake stocked with fish just waiting to be caught. You can take you pup on a boat ride here on the lake, or find some great swimmin’ holes for the two of you to cool off on a hot summer day. Afterwards, take the many trails for a hike with you pup off leash during the non-hunting season.
