The Little River State Park is a dog friendly great place to check out. This is one of the most popular parks in central Vermont, located on the Waterbury Reservoir. Dogs are welcome throughout the park, except for on the beaches and designated swim areas. They can splash and play at the boat dock in section A and from waterfront campsites. The nearby town of Stowe is a recreation hub for outdoor enthusiasts, and their dogs too! In the Stowe City Center, just a 15 minute drive north of Waterbury, you can find the Stowe Recreation Path. This five-mile paved pathway is easy on the paws and they eyes. The pathway criss-crosses the Little River with scenic bridges, and offers gorgeous mountain views. The park is mostly undeveloped and has no visitors facilities, but there are still many ways to explore the area. For a bit of a challenge, try the Monroe Trail, accessible from Camel’s Hump Road. The trail has three viewing spots to the summit of Camel’s Hump. Leashed dogs are welcome, just don’t forget the waste bags and plenty of drinking water for your parched pup. East of Waterbury in the nearby town of Montpelier brings you to another puppy paradise! It’s in the Elm St / Mill Rd neighborhood, just 30 minutes from Waterbury, that you can find the Hubbard Park Off-Leash Dog Area. This public park has many trails on which your pal can romp around like a wild dog. There is even a pond to cool off in. The park is not fenced, and your dog must be within sight and under voice control at all times.
