A great option for walking Fido in the Central Park neighborhood is the Nine Mile Creek Trail that actually spans almost 15 miles from Lake Minnetoga to the Minnesota River. The north part of the trail begins in Moir Park, meanders down through Central Park, and ends at the Minnesota River. The trail is flat and easy to hike, making it great for the entire family. You can find places to rest in Moir Park with benches and restrooms, and continue hiking while your pooch has a snifftastic time in the grassy areas. This is a pupular destination for canines, so you will probably see your neighbors out with their furry family members.

Shepherd Hills

Fido will love spending time at Tretbaugh Park off W 90^th Street. There is an off-leash area for your pooch to run around during the summer months, but the broomball rinks are used for hockey during the winter. Although the fenced area is small, your pup can play and chase a ball to use up some energy. If you want to take your pooch hiking, head north and visit Girard Lake Park. You can walk the path around the lake and let your pup sniff nature, and watch the ducks and frogs along the banks.

Woodstock

One of the best features of Bloomington is the Hyland Lake Park Reserve in West Bloomington. With 2,565-acres of space to walk and play with your pooch, it is a great destination for a weekend with the family. Strolling around the lake offers your pooch a chance to stretch his legs, and you can watch the disc golfers play on the nearby course. The kids will love the playground, and you and Fido can relax on a bench after walking the trails. On the way home, stop by Parma 8200 where you can order dinner and have a cocktail on the outdoor patio.

Normandale Old Shakopee W

Fido and his friends will love meeting up at the Bloomington Dog Park on Nesbitt Ave. The 25-acre park features grassy hills where your pooch can romp and roam, plenty of trees to sniff and smell, and a pond for pups who love to splash and swim. The open areas are perfect for a game of fetch and you will enjoy chatting with other pup owners while relaxing on one of the shaded benches. Doggie waste bags are provided, making it quick and easy to clean up after your pup. You can even fill Fido’s water bowl at the water fountain and wash his feet before heading home.

Penn American

Just off Emerson Ave in Central Bloomington, Bryan Park offers 22-acres of space to walk Fido and spend time with the family. The baseball fields are great to play a game of frisbee with your pooch, or you can walk around the park and admire the gardens and trees. The naturalized pond is fun if your pup likes to sniff wildlife, and you can relax on one of the benches and watch the fishermen. Kids can enjoy time at the playground while you and Fido have a snifftastic adventure in the grassy field.
