Situated two hours west of Lincoln, Dannebrog is a picturesque Danish Village surrounded by history and ethnic pride. This small Fido-friendly town is a wonderful destination where everyone knows their neighbors and pups are considered part of the family.

Located right in the town center, Dannebrog Park is a well-maintained area where residents and visitors can stroll with their pooch and take in the sights. This wonderful park even offers camping sites for RV’s and tents with fresh water hydrants!  While spending time with your pup, you can walk along the paths and the kids can run around on the playground.

While walking around town, you and your pup will also want to stop by the Danish Baker. On Thursday’s, they offer the best pizza in town, and the friendly staff will deliver your food while you and your pup relax outside and chat with friends and neighbors.

When your pup needs medical attention, there are two vets north of town in St Paul. These qualified clinics provide both emergency and routine care.

Whether you are visiting Dannebrog to explore your Danish history, or you live in this beautiful small town, you and your pup will love the family and Fido-friendly activities.

A popular activity for pups and families is the Dannebrog Trail. This hiking trail circles the town and follows the abandoned Union Pacific rail line. Pups and their families can walk along the paved trail and stretch their legs while admiring the historic Hannibal Woods. If you are out with the kids, they can easily ride their bike along the path and enjoy the fresh air. You need to keep your pup on his leash while watching the squirrels and birds in their natural habitat. The trail is about three miles long, and you will want to bring your own doggie waste bags and dispose of trash in the convenient receptacles.
