Sayrewoods South
About 13 miles from Monroe Township is the Sayrewoods South neighborhood of Old Bridge. This neighborhood houses Mannino Park, a public park where residents and visitors can get outside, enjoy some ball games, and play with the kids at the playgrounds. There’s also a dog park within the park, called Bark Park, that has separate fenced-in areas for small and large dogs to play safely. You’ll also find waste bags, some play equipment for your pooch, benches, and plenty of shady trees to keep you and Spot comfortable. Keystone Park is also right down the road, and people love it for its trails that lead you right through the habitats of New Jersey wildlife.

Colonial Oaks
Colonial Oaks is a neighborhood in East Brunswick that’s a little under ten miles from Monroe Township. This neighborhood is where you’ll find the pupular East Brunswick Dog Park, located within the Heavenly Farms Park. The dog park is fully fenced so your dog can play off her leash, and it also has a separate area for smaller pups to play. You can also enjoy some outdoor fun at Heavenly Farms Park itself, which allows leashed dogs in its open areas and walking trails. Or, explore the Ireland Brook Conservation Area, which is the pawfect spot to walk on trails or snap some photos of your pup near surrounding wildlife.

Riverside
Riverside in Princeton is about 13.5 miles from Monroe Township. This neighborhood is a great spot for outdoor-loving dogs and their owners to get some fresh air and start some new adventures. Here, you’ll find the Mountain Lakes Open Space Area, a massive park that’s over 400 acres large. The park has several hiking trails that allow leashed dogs (just be sure to clean up after them!), and you can even walk to the lake within the park to relax, let Sparky splash around, or catch some fish. Community Park North is nearby, and is a great spot to bird watch, walk, or check out the pond.

Kingston
Kingston in Princeton is also about 13.5 miles from Monroe Township, but is farther north than Riverside. In Kingston, you can head to the Rocky Top Dog Park, an interesting off-leash park with lots of grass, shady trees, and even a water spot where your pup can splash around to cool off. Near the dog park is a trail you and your dog can explore together known as the Kingston Branch Loop Trail. This multi-use Rails-to-Trails trail is almost two miles in length and will take you to the site of an old mill, through pretty dirt paths lined with foliage, and even to parts of the Kingston village.

North Main Street
If you’ve had enough outdoor adventure for a day and you want a place to stop with your pooch for a bite to eat, then North Main Street in Cranbury, NJ is just the place. It’s just over six miles from Monroe Township and has a few cozy, dog-friendly places for you and your pup to go mutts for! The Cranbury Inn is one of them. This charming spot hosts several special events, like weddings and conventions, but you can also eat a meal with your dog at one of the tables on the front porch. Or, grab a sweet treat at Gil & Bert’s Ice Cream, which has outdoor tables for you and your pooch.
