Cibolo is a small city on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas that’s been named one of Texas’ best suburbs and one of its safest cities. Cibolo has two vet clinics for small animals within its boundaries and several within minutes from the city.
Cibolo doesn’t offer a lot in the way of paw-friendly attractions, but there is plenty of fun just waiting for you and your pooch in San Antonio, which is only minutes away. In the northern part of the city, you’ll find some outdoor fun at Comanche Lookout Park, a beautiful public park with over four miles of nature trails that welcomes leashed dogs and their owners. Or, visit Panther Springs Park, a fenced-in park made just for your furry friend, with small and large enclosures for breeds of all sizes.
You can also visit Downtown San Antonio, about 24 miles from Cibolo, if you’re looking to experience more of the city with your pooch. You can also visit the off-leash area of Madison Square Park, a clean and well-maintained portion of the gorgeous park made just for mutts.

Alamo Heights in San Antonio is just under 18 miles from Cibolo. This neighborhood is a pupular spot for locals and tourists alike who love to bring their doggie friends with them wherever they go. Here, you’ll find the Wag More Dog Store, a pawfect place to find healthy foods, adorable clothing, and furtastic toys for your furry friend. You can also visit the Alamo Heights Bark Park, a fenced-in park where dogs can roam, run, and race. There are also plenty of dog-friendly dining options here, like Cerroni’s Purple Garlic, which has outdoor seating for dogs and their owners.
If you drive about 15 miles northwest from Cibolo, you’ll come to the Uptown Central neighborhood of San Antonio, TX. Uptown Central is set away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, giving you and your pup a good spot to enjoy what San Antonio has to offer in a more relaxing environment. Here, you can visit McAllister Park, a public park with playgrounds and nature trails. Your leashed dog is welcome anywhere in the park. But, you can also take him to the fenced-in dog run, which even offers a full doggie playground and exercise equipment for your pooch to enjoy!
Olympia Hills in Universal City is around seven miles from Cibolo. This neighborhood is only minutes away from the outskirts of San Antonio and offers tons of dining opportunities for you and your pup. Hearthstone BakeryCafe is known for its yummy breakfast options. Pull up a chair at an outdoor table and take your favorite pooch out for a breakfast run! Need a night out? The Lion & Rose British Pub is a great place for friends and their dogs to hang out and grab a drink on the outdoor patio. You can also take your pup to Universal City Dog Park, a fenced-in park that makes the perfect spot for some outdoor fun.
Slightly over three miles from Cibolo is Aviation Heights in Schertz, Texas. Aviation Heights offers a dog park, known as Schertz Dog Park, that’s only minutes from Cibolo. Get your dog some exercise and socialization at the fenced-in park, which owners love for its clean setting and quiet location. This neighborhood is also home to Fox’s Pizza & Tap Room, a casual spot that sets the stage for a fun night out with your dog-loving friends – and their dogs, of course. Eat some delicious pizzas and wings and enjoy one of several on-tap beers on the outdoor patio, which welcomes furry friends too.
The Shearer Hills-Ridgeview neighborhood of San Antonio is a little over 20 miles from Cibolo. This neighborhood is a good one to visit if you’re specifically in the mood for some dog-friendly dining. You’ll have plenty of food options, from Mexican to seafood! Try Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen for some Cajun-inspired favorites and outdoor seating perfect for furry paws. Texas Land & Cattle Steak House is the place where meat lovers go to enjoy juicy steaks, burgers, and more. Or, try Twin Peaks Restaurant for a pawfectly casual dining experience with some good old American food favorites, like sandwiches, wings, and burgers.
