For pooches who love urban activities, the Live Oak neighborhood is pawfect. There are several dog-friendly restaurants for the two of you to dine at here, such as Nicha's Comida Mexicana, where you will be able to sample homemade Mexican dishes, cooked to recipes that have been passed through the family for generations. For a hearty breakfast, give the Hearthstone BakeryCafe a try, while the hand-crafted, specialty sandwiches at McAlister's Deli are ideal for a casual lunch. If you need somewhere nearby to stay, both the WoodSpring Suites San Antonio and the Navona Live Oak Hotel allow two pets per guest room.

Pat Booker Rd/ Coronado Blvd
Adjacent to Live Oak, in the southeast direction, lies the Pat Booker Rd/ Coronado Blvd neighborhood of Universal City, and this is the place to go if your pooch would like to run free off the lead. This is where you will find the Universal City Dog Park, consisting of 1.3 acres of a fenced-off dog run for Fido to play and socialize. With separate areas for smaller and larger dogs, waste collection facilities, water stations and drinking fountains, and several shade structures, all you need to bring with you is your dog! If the two of you are feeling hungry after all of that excitement, head on over to the dog-friendly Papouli's Greek Grill for some tasty Mediterranean fare.

Converse City Center
Less than a mile from Live Oak is the City Center of Converse, and although this may be relatively quiet for a city center, it is home to a park that your dog will absolutely love. The Converse North Park is a large city park with a couple of playgrounds and plenty of green spaces for you and Fido to explore. If the two of you would like to do some fishing, there is a spacious, 20 acre lake within the park, which is stocked with bass and catfish, making this spot extremely popular. Since this is a city park, you will need to keep your dog on a lead, and don't forget to bring some doggie bags and drinking water too.

Airport City
Less than two miles from Live Oak is Airport City in Converse, which is a neighborhood that provides all you need for a fun few hours with your pooch. Begin by taking a stroll around the Converse City Park, which Airport City provides access to. This large park is home to a variety of vegetation, as well as a playground, a basketball court and a walking trail that loops its way around the park. After exploring all the greenery, treat Fido to a meal at the dog-friendly Rocket's Feed. This restaurant is known for their burgers and sandwiches, and makes use of locally-produced ingredients whenever possible.

High Country
About two miles from Live Oak is the neighborhood of High Country in San Antonio, where you will find the historic 96 acre Cormanche Lookout Park, which used to be where Cormanche scouts would spy on nearby travelers. There is so much for you and Fido to see here, such as four-storey Norman-style tower at the center of the park, which was built in the 1940's. In addition to all of the historical structures, there are plenty of modern amenities within the park, including sports facilities, playgrounds, picnic areas and restrooms, as well as four walking trails that total just over two miles in length altogether.
