Shavano Park
Just 35 miles from Devine is San Antonio. This is a furtastic city that allows you to join your dog in lots of different ways. There are times in which Fido just needs to visit a place that's just for him. Phil Hardberger Dog Park is just that place. There are clearly marked trails that you can take your dog on, or he can play off-leash in one of the fenced in areas. He can run and play with all his fur buddies while you sit on one of the benches in the shade. When you are all done, just stop by for a quick rinse before getting in the car.

San Antonio
You definitely need to make the 35-mile trek over to Comanche Lookout Park. There is a 4.5-mile trail that leads up a nice elevation so that you can get a good look at the area. The lookout tower is a great hideaway, complete with historical markers. There are tons of spots to explore here. You can even take your mini human to run and play on the playground. This is an on-leash park, and a great family-friendly place. You are sure to see lots of other fur friends all through the park, so get out there and find some new playmates for Fido!

The Alamo
Since you have taken the 35-mile trip to San Antonio, you should go ahead and check out the other side of the Alamo. Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours invite you to grab a leash and drag your dog through a side of the city that few can really see. Your guide will point out all the historic sites while telling you the ghost stories that go along with them. You can choose to do a family tour early in the evening, or an adults-only tour late at night. This is the most interesting way to learn about the history of the city and letting Fido sniff out the local ghosts!

Hondo
Just 21 miles from Devin is Hondo Café. They have literally everything that you could want. The patio is set up just so that you can join your dog for a good meal. Pick out a pawtastic burger and have it made just the way you want it, or pick out a meal from the classic Tex-Mex menu. Visit often and pick something different every time; you will never regret your choice. Everyone, including the kids, will absolutely love Hondo Café. Your dog will love the relaxed atmosphere and the great service just as much as you enjoy the delicious food.
Castroville
If you don’t mind the 20-mile car ride, Hillside Bar and Grill is just the place to go. On beautiful days, you can take your dog to their outdoor eating area. The classic menu serves pizza, burgers, steaks, and everything in between. You’ll love the varied spirits menu. The whole city has a historic vibe that makes you want to slow down and enjoy life. It is a great getaway spot to spend your day. Bring Fido's leash so you can work off that delicious meal by taking a walk through the city afterward.
