South Padre Island is a truly enchanting place to visit and live if you love the water. It is known as a resort town, but people reside here all year round with their families, including those with fur-babies. You and your pup will fit right in, so don't worry about making new friends in this section of the heartland!

The area isn't really an island, but it has all the charm of one. It is known for its bird watching tower, where the migration patterns of millions of birds are recorded throughout the year. The South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center is a puptastic place to check out if your dog is well-behaved around our feathery friends and won't bark too much to scare them away.

There is one animal hospital just a short fifteen-minute drive from the center of South Padre Island. The staff will make sure your pup is in great care regardless of whether she is just there for her annual exam or more specialized care to keep her feeling her very best. You will need to keep your dog on a leash while exploring the natural areas found here, so make sure your dog's leash manners are in good shape.
