Downtown Damascus

The Downtown Damascus neighborhood is a pawfect starting point to explore the town and its surroundings. Start off exploring the Damascus Town Park with its two children's playgrounds, wooden picnic tables and quaint walking paths that reach all the way to the Damascus Public Library. You'll feel like you're tucked away in your own paradise! Another pawpular park is just a block away, and also offers folks and furry friends a great time roaming and romping in the grassy lawn. It's the pawfect place to get away from the busier Town Park and enjoy a quiet moment among nature with your furiend.

East Laurel Creek

Before you set out on the great Virginia Creeper Trail, don't miss out on the chance to swing by the East Laurel Creek neighborhood in south Damascus to refuel your empty bellies at the local Mojo's Trailside Cafe & Coffee. Fido is welcome to join you at their outdoor seating to chow down on special breakfast and lunch dishes. Try the delicious Bagels and Lox breakfast meal with smoked salmon and chive-dill cream cheese, or stop in for lunch after your bike ride and try their homemade Thousand Island dressing on grilled Wheatberry bread with turkey, Swiss cheese and avocado. Bone appétit!

Beaverdam Riverside

The Beaverdam Riverside neighborhood lying just west of Damascus Downtown is a pawpular place to go for one main reason: The Damascus Brewery. This local dog friendly microbrewery specializes in what folks classify as "top notch" beer and comes complete with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and interesting, smiling faces! If you're unsure of what to order, then you can always test out their "Flight" sampler, consisting of eight varieties of their local brews. Discover new flavors as you try out each one, ranging from sour to fruity, to even bacon-flavored (your pooch will love that one!) Come on by and don't forget to designate Fido as the driver for the way back into town (wink wink).

Abingdon on West Main

Discover even more pup-friendly oppawtunities as you head west of Damascus to the nearby town of Abingdon. Visit the Abingdon on West Main neighborhood to explore the town's delicious eateries, such as the Ellis Soda Shoppe & Grill. Converted from a 1950's drugstore, this all-American diner is now a pawpular location for wooftacular burgers and ice cream. Another restaurant not to be missed in Abingdon on West Main is the Rain Restaurant & Bar. This restaurant serves American grub and features a pawtastic farm-to-table experience. Pups are welcome to dig in on the fresh meals at both establishments out on their outdoor tables. 

Glenrochie

While in Abingdon, wag over to the Glenrochie neighborhood to take advantage of more dining options and conveniently-located pup-friendly hotels. The Red Roof Inn Abingdon offers pups and their humans to stay overnight in clean rooms for no additional fee, but allows one dog per room. Pet-friendly rooms are limited however, so it's recommended to call their canine concierge in advance to make sure you have a spot saved! For a fiesty Fido who loves to eat alongside their pawtner, grab a slice of fresh, cheesy pizza or breadsticks nearby at Bella's Pizza and enjoy it together out on their outdoor tables. While in Damascus and nearby towns like Abingdon, you and your pup are gonna have a great time!
