Central Whitehall
Central Whitehall is home to most of the public parks that are well loved by residents. Melby Park is one of the green spaces where you can bring your pup for an afternoon of Frisbee or a picnic. Larson Park is just a few minutes away and is a great small park for a quick walk at the end of the day. Pigeon Creek is a pupperific place if you and your pooch like a view of the water while you get your exercise together for the day. Just make sure you have waste bags to help keep this neighborhood clean.36

Black River State Forest
The Black River State Forest is about 40 minutes away from Whitehall, and it's the pawfect place to explore the day away! The park is located right between Minneapolis and Madison. You can bring your fur family here for a camping adventure or a hike. The forest is considered a hub of wildlife activity and habitat conservation for all of the animals that call the area home, so be sure to observe posted signs. There is a new population of elk that returned to the area a few years ago, so be mindful and give them the space they need to enjoy their new home while you explore it.24

Perrot State Park
About 40 minutes south of Whitehall is Perrot State Park. This park marks where the Trempealeau River meets the Mississippi River. The view from the bluffs here are simply stunning. The riverbank and wetlands throughout this park are a protected habitat for the many birds that migrate throug the park throughout the year. You are welcome to bring your pup with you for a hike, but make sure you keep your furry friend on a leash and you have plenty of waste bags with you to clean up after them. Your dog will love sniffing around the tall bluffs and sparkling riverbed.12

Lake Wissota State Park
Lake Wissota State Park is more than 1,000 acres of varied terrain with its own man-made lake right in the center. The park is about an hour to the north of Whitehall and is the pawfect place for a weekend adventure with your whole family. You can hike, bike, and picnic throughout the park with your pup. There are designated swimming areas and plenty of water activities if your dog has sea legs! The park is open all year from 6 AM until 11 PM, seven days a week. You can even rent canoes for the lake if you don't have your own!
