This scenic park is located where the Chippewa River and Eau Claire River meet, and it’s the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon with your furry best friend. Beautiful green space span over its 9 acres, and boasts riverfronts, bridges, a walking labyrinth, and an outdoor amphitheater that offers concerts throughout the year. Nearby, the Oxbow Hotel welcomes pets and their parents. No matter what you do, downtown Eau Claire is a fun place to explore with your canine companion.

Right above the downtown area of Eau Claire you’ll find the historic Carson Park,  a pupular destination for families. Surrounded by Half Moon Lake, this huge park in the heart of the city has so many acivities for you and your pup to explore. There’s the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp which is open May through September and allows dogs outside around the replicated historic buildings. For sports fans, there’s the historic Eau Claire Baseball stadium which can be strolled through between games. For just those who want a stroll, there’s picnic areas and pavilions, restrooms, and lots of trails for hiking. On the other side of the lake is Halfmoon Park, another green space to stroll.

Where US Highway 53 and Interstate 94 cross in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, you will find the Eau Claire Dog Park. Whether you are a local or you are just passing through the area, it is definitely worth visiting with your canine companion. This fenced, off-leash park spans a total of nine acres and has a separate area for smaller pets. There is a doggy watering station and an open field where playful pups can spend hours running and exploring. The park provides cleanup bags, and there are several benches for seating. It is open year-round, but make note that there is a fee for visiting. Annual passes and day passes are available.

When you are in Eau Claire’s Union area, check out Chippewa River State Trail. This trail is one of the 1,600+ rail-trails supported by the non-profit Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, and it is the perfect place to enjoy a tranquil walk along the Chippewa River. This trail extends more than 38 miles through Dunn and Eau Claire Counties. When you spend a day here, you’ll travel through some of Wisconsin’s most beautiful scenery. The trail has an asphalt surface, making it easy to traverse and appropriate for walking, biking and inline skating. Whether you stop by for a short jaunt or spend the entire day on the trail, both you and your four-legged friend will have a great time exploring the Chippewa River State Trail.


Lake Wissota

Located about 13 miles northeast of Eau Claire, the city of Chippewa Falls is a great place to visit with your furry friend. Chippewa Falls Happy Tails Dog Park is a massive park that spans more than 50 acres. The entire area is fenced in for secure off-leash play, and there is a separate small dog area. A walking trail surrounds the park’s perimeter, and a watering station has been installed to keep thirsty hounds hydrated. Happy Tails is open to residents as well as travelers passing through the area, however, you must purchase either an annual permit or a daily use permit.
