    #1 New Richmond

It is only a 10-minute trip from Burkhardt to New Richmond’s Off Leash Dog Park. This is a wide open space that has been set aside for you and your dog to run and play. It is a green space with lots of places for you to sit and watch your Fido make lots of new fur friends. When your dog gets ready to stretch her legs, you can go for a walk through the mowed paths in the space. Just be sure that you bring your own water because there is no running water onsite.

    #2 Lakeland

A great adventure awaits just 10 miles from you at Afton to Lakeland Trail. This is one of the beautiful Rails-to-Trails preserved spaces. You can walk parallel to the highway for much of the trail, seeing exactly what you would be seeing if you were riding the rails that once occupied the space. There are many communities along the trail that have been there since the rail was put in. Enjoy their history as you make pit stops along the way. Make sure that you bring plenty of water, and you will need to keep your dog on a leash as well.

    #4 Taylor Falls

Thirty-five miles may seem like a long way to drive just to enjoy nature, but you shouldn’t let the drive stop you from bringing your dog to Franconia Sculpture Garden. This is a 43-acre park that features local artists and their original works. You can come and walk around as long as you keep your dog on his leash. It is privately funded with the sole intent of inspiring people to create magic for others to enjoy. These artworks are often awe inspiring and beautiful.
