Leashes are required during the summer season from June through August, but during the rest of the year, doggos are invited to lose the leash and romp on the beach and in the water from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.! The leashes go back on after 9:00 until closing at 7:00 p.m.
Free parking is available year-round at the beach parking lot, with a couple of other lots around the reservoir if that lot is full. The $5.00 admission fee applies to all humans over the age of one, but dogs don't have to pay! Residents pay slightly less, and an annual discounted pass is available. Purchase passes at the Arlington Recreation Office.Â
The beach features a bathhouse with restrooms, vending machines and a playground in case your human kiddos get bored building castles on the sand. Pups are not allowed on the playground. Staffed with lifeguards whenever the beach is open during the summer, there's always someone to help with issues.Â
After an early-morning 1-mile walk around the reservoir, this would be a furtastic place for your pooch to run a bit, take a refreshing dip in the water with you and explore the sand for things that are only of interest to dogs. Or sit at a picnic table and enjoy a snack while gazing at the reservoir sparkling in the sun. In the summer, the beach remains welcoming to pups who are leashed. Please remember that the water's edge is where the children gather in summer, and keep an eye and hand on Fido to keep everyone happy. Also, don't forget the clean up bags, and water to share!
A beach so close to the city! How woofderful!
