Walnut Creek Campground and Resort

If you’re looking to get some R&R in Southern Ohio, make your way to the Walnut Creek Campground & Resort in Chillicothe. This 110-acre expanse of rolling hills and creeks welcomes the entire family, including four-legged members, so grab the leash and load your pup into the RV!

Fronted by its namesake creek, the campground has 120 spacious RV sites and 4 cozy cabins. The cabins are off-limits to pets, but up to two canine campers can stay at each site. If you and your pup don’t mind “ruffing” it, primitive camping is available as well. One feature of Walnut Creek that Fido will surely appreciate are the miles of trails that meander through wooded areas. So don’t worry if you have a high-energy dog—there are plenty of opportunities for them to stretch their legs and get the wiggles out! Just remember to keep them on a leash at all times and have a stash of clean-up bags in your back pocket before you leave your campsite. 

Walnut Creek also offers a number of amenities for two leggers, including a sports field with basketball, volleyball, badminton, and cornhole; a large, kid-safe concrete swimming pond; and a spring-fed lake where campers can kayak at no additional cost. There are various seasonal activities throughout the year as well, especially during the warmer months, so be sure to check the campground’s website for announcements.
