The specific off-leash area is an unfenced but rather large field in the park. This unfenced area means your canine could run off or chase down a biker or jogger, so it is important your canine be well trained, remain in sight, and under voice control at all times.
This field also does not allow for you to bring your canine and take them off the leash all day. In fact, the rules of the park dictate that you can only have your canine off his leash here from dawn until 1 PM. This off-leash zone is marked by signs but can most easily be found by looking for the large field in the center area of the park.Â
The Amory Playground Off-Leash Dog Area has public restrooms available and running water, but you will need to bring your own dog bowl. Water at this park is important as, at least in the off-leash sections, there is relatively little shade. They also have dog bags available and wastebaskets throughout the park for you to clean up after your canine.
Even if you cannot make it during those times or your canine is not well trained enough for the openness of this type of off-leash area, that does not mean you shouldn't come here with your canine. Even while on a leash, this park has a ton of different attractions that would make the visit worthwhile. This park hosts an enormous amount of walking paths and tons of interesting structures, sculptures, and artwork for you to admire.
