Elizabeth Glover Dog Park, Houston, TX

Opened in 2014, the Elizabeth Glover Dog Park was a welcome addition to Houston’s Midtown. Within walking distance of many of the area’s residents, it’s a haven for dogs of all sizes who have been cooped up inside all day. It’s a grreat spot to work out the zoomies after a late afternoon walk, and even at the most pupular times, it’s never overcrowded. 

The fenced-in dog park spans about half of the Elizabeth Glover Park that it's housed in, with the other half being an open, grassy area. Dogs are welcome in the green space on a leash and can lose the leash once inside the dog playground's double-gated security corral. Open and free of obstructions, the dog play area caters to sprinters, ball-fetchers, wrestlers, and pups who just want to sniff around. Strategically planted shade trees shelter the benches along one side, and a multi-use water fountain keeps everyone hydrated. Limited free parking is available.

One of the rules that benefit everyone is picking up after the pupsters. The city makes it easier for pet parents to be considerate of other visitors by providing waste bags in dispensers. It’s a good idea to bring a few of your own bags, just in case the dispenser runs out before the city can refill it.

Dog park petiquette and politeness is expected at this furbulous canine hot spot! Dogs must wear their city license and rabies tags, and no food or snacks are permitted inside the fenced area. Puppies under four months and females in heat are prohibited for health and safety reasons. A complete list of the park’s rules is posted near the entrance.
