Description

Seattle is a dog-friendly city where fur babies go almost everywhere with their human parents. Walks and hikes are great exercise, but socializing and running without a leash is even better! Kinnear Park Off-Leash Area is a convenient doggy playground in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood that'll get your pup's tail wagging!

Kinnear Park sits on a tiered slope overlooking Elliot Bay. This green park is divided into upper and lower sections, with the off-leash area tucked into a shady nook on the lower slope on the west side of the park. A trail off Mercer Place at the bottom of the park leads to the run, and parking is available within walking distance.

The Off-Leash Area is a small, fenced-in dog run boasting a double gate for safe entry. The fence is 4 feet high, but take care if you have an energetic jumper on your hands! With just one space, pint-sized pups should be comfortable playing around bigger ones. Rocks and logs on the gravel surface installed in 2021 are great for launching pads and rest spots, and the entire area sits in dappled shade, including from a large Maple tree inside the enclosure. It's usually quiet, but neighborhood dogs and parents are regular users, especially on evenings and weekends.

A trash can and clean-up bags help dispose of any pet waste, but it may be a good idea to bring a few bags of your own in case they run out. Human restrooms can be found in other areas of Kinnear Park. You'll also need to bring water for your thirsty pup, as there isn't any available on site. Toys, frisbees, and balls left by other pooches are fair game for everyone, and humans can comfortably watch the action from a shady bench inside the fence. Aggressive behavior is not okay, and all canine visitors should be current with their vaccinations and license.

Just outside the off-leash area is a trail that leads up into the main park. If your doggo still has some zoom after the dog park, clip on the leash and head up the hill for nature trails and furbulous views from the upper park. A brisk and challenging walk may be just what they need.

If you're wondering where to take Roscoe for a barking good time, the Kinnear Off-Leash Area should be your next stop.
