Paws Park at River Park, Chicago, IL

If you and your fur baby live around the Albany Park/Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago, you may already be aware of the furtastic Paws Park dog park nestled in a corner of laid-back River Park. If you're just visiting, this should be one of your first stops, where your pupster will most likely want to spend most of your visit! 

Paws Park offers lots of off-leash fun for pooches. The entire area is fenced and has paved, dirt, and gravel surfaces for whatever style of play your pup desires! There is a multi-use drinking fountain, and refreshing play pools are put out in the summertime to help pups cool off. It's a good idea, though, to bring some water along to be sure everyone is hydrated. 

As with every Chicago city dog park, permits are required for pups to enter. Permit tags and licenses should be displayed on the doggos at all times, and pet parents should keep a paper copy of the permit on hand. The permits confirm that a dog is vaccinated and spayed/neutered. The permit can be obtained for a $5 fee from participating veterinarians. Puppies less than four months old should be left outside the gate, along with any females in heat. 

Please make use of the waste bags provided at the doggie clean-up stations to keep the playground pleasant for everyone. You don't want the embarrassment of being caught empty-handed, so it's smart to bring along a few bags. Then you can relax on a bench while you watch all the fun your fur baby is having.

When you realize you have a pooped pooch, help them power down by leashing 'em and strolling around beautiful, quiet River Park before heading home. They've had a ball, so bring them back often if you can!
