Located in the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago's Far North Side, Pottawattomie Park has an impressive collection of indoor and outdoor athletic facilities that include a soccer field, two playgrounds, and a gymnasium with fitness activities for children and adults. Family members of the four-legged kind will most appreciate the 0.2-acre off-leash dog area where they can run to their heart's content.

There's so much to bark about here, that your pup will love. Surfaced in concrete and gravel, the fenced off-leash area is well-kept and clean and has a gate that can be closed to create a separate section for small dogs. Thirsty dogs will appreciate the doggie drinking area and ample shade where they can cool off. The mature trees that surround the dog park give it a scenic, peaceful quality. There are benches inside the fence where humans can rest and watch their favorite good boys and girls run and play. 

For curious canines wanting to explore the rest of the park on a leash, there's more to enjoy. Large open fields used for sports are great places for pups to sniff and run when no one is playing or practicing. There are several beautifully landscaped sections of the park where scent-focused dogs can find a lovely spot to pee. Whether you're in the off-leash area or anywhere else in the park, be mindful and heed the signs posted around the park reminding you that "There is no poop fairy." Unless that's what your dog calls you. Remember to bring your own clean up bags, as Pottawattomie Park does not dispense them.
