Overview

Go! Solutions is one of the oldest members of the Petcurean pet food family. For over 25 years, Go! Solutions has produced science-backed premium pet foods catering to specific health needs. But is Go! Solutions good dog food?

We give Go! Solutions a 5 out of 5 rating because of its impressive ingredient quality, fat-to-protein ratios, and product range.

Scroll on for Wag!'s comprehensive Go! Solutions dog food review, where we deep dive into the brand's product lines, benefits, recalls, and history to help you decide if it's the best choice for your canine companion.

Go! Solutions dog food product ranges and flavors

All Go! Solutions dog foods are complete and balanced, meeting the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) nutrient profile guidelines for all life stages, adult maintenance, or growth.

Go! Solutions Carnivore Dog Food

Go! Solutions Carnivore dry dog food

Carnivore is Go! Solutions standard dog food range, designed to cater to your dog's carnivorous instincts. Each recipe is grain-free, gluten-free, and high in animal protein.

Each variety lists at least four different meats or meat meals within the top five ingredients — no animal by-products here! One downside is every recipe includes several different animal protein sources, which isn't ideal for dogs with meat allergies or sensitivities.

Potatoes, peas, and lentils replace grains as the main fiber sources in these recipes. Potatoes aren't particularly nutritious for dogs as they're high in carbs— we prefer not to see them among the top ten ingredients. Further down the list, you'll find natural sources of vitamins and minerals, like apples, flaxseed, pumpkin, carrots, and blueberries.

Go! Solutions enrich its Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Puppy recipe with DHA and EPA fatty acids to support development and antioxidants to boost immunity. Go! Solutions Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Senior food is high in glucosamine and chondroitin for joint and hip support.

Go! Solutions Carnivore dry dog foods have excellent protein-to-fat ratios. The Grain-Free Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Adult recipe contains above-average protein (35.5% as dry matter) and near-average fat (15.5% as dry matter) compared to standard kibble.

While we prefer to see real meat as the top ingredient in kibbles, Go! Solutions Carnivore dry dog food is a great grain-free dry dog food for your pup.

Carnivore dry dog food varieties

  • Grain-Free Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Puppy
  • Grain-Free Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Adult
  • Grain-Free Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Senior
  • Grain-Free Carnivore Lamb + Wild Boar
  • Grain-Free Carnivore Salmon + Cod

Go! Solutions Carnivore wet dog food

Go! Solutions serves up two wet Carnivore recipes, which are excellent grain-free wet dog foods. Each recipe lists one or two real cuts of meat as the top ingredients, followed by broth, chicken liver, potato, and sweet potato.

Next up, each formula lists nutritious natural ingredients like pork plasma, apples, dried egg whites, salmon oil, and flaxseed. Pork plasma is derived from pig's blood and is high in amino acids, vitamin B12, calcium, and magnesium. Salmon oil and flaxseed are among the best sources of omega fatty acids for canines.

Both recipes are suitable for all life stages, meaning you won't have to switch up your canine companion's diet as they age.

Go! Solutions Carnivore wet dog foods have outstanding fat-to-protein ratios — Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Stew consists of above-average protein (52.7% as dry matter) and average fat (13.8% as dry matter) compared to standard canned wet foods.

One downside of these recipes is the use of potatoes as a main ingredient, but that's easily forgiven when you consider how much animal protein is packed into each serving — highly recommended.

  • Carnivore Chicken, Turkey + Duck Stew
  • Carnivore Shredded Lamb + Wild Boar

Go! Solutions Sensitivities Dog Food

Go! Solutions Sensitivities dry dog food

Sensitivities is Go! Solutions' largest dry dog food range, with seven limited-ingredient grain-free recipes for Scooby to sample. All recipes use novel protein sources like venison and duck, which studies show aren't common food allergens for dogs.

Each recipe follows a similar formula — a real cut of meat followed by a meat meal and a mix of lentils, chickpeas, peas, and tapioca. Canola oil is another common top ten ingredient in this range, one of the best fatty acid sources alongside flaxseed.

Each recipe is fairly limited-ingredient, with around 12 to 15 ingredients a piece aside from added vitamins and minerals.

Go! Solutions Sensitivities generally contain lower protein levels due to their use of a single animal protein. Sensitivities Duck recipe contains slightly above-average protein (26.6% as dry matter) and average fat (13.3% as dry matter) compared to classic kibbles.

Overall, these limited-ingredient recipes are thoughtfully designed to prevent upset stomachs and reduce the risk of allergic reactions.

  • Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Duck
  • Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Insect
  • Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Lamb
  • Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Salmon
  • Sensitivities Limited Ingredient Small Bites Salmon

Go! Solutions Sensitivities wet dog food

Go! Solutions also has a couple of wet foods in its Sensitivities range. Both foods list a quality cut of meat as the top ingredient, followed by tapioca, cranberries, pumpkin, and salmon oil.

The Duck Paté variety includes dried egg whites, while the Shredded Turkey recipe features pork plasma — both of which are rich in essential amino acids. Pumpkin is a nutritious natural fiber source and rich in vitamins A, C, and E.

Go! Solutions Sensitivities only include around ten primary ingredients (aside from vitamin and mineral supplements), making them a superb choice for sensitive stomachs.

Like their dry equivalents, Sensitivities wet recipes are lower in protein than the Carnivore range. Sensitivities Duck Paté contains above-average protein (34% protein as dry matter) and above-average fat (25% fat as dry matter) when stacked against your typical wet dog food.

Go! Solutions Skin + Coat Care Dog Food

Go! Solutions Skin + Coat Care dry dog food

Skin + Coat Care is a grain-inclusive dry dog food range designed to keep your pooch's fur and skin looking their best. Each recipe contains a single animal protein source with brown rice, oatmeal, and whole oats as the main grains. Oatmeal and brown rice are among the healthiest grains in dog foods — they're both high in dietary fiber and B vitamins.

Chicken fat, salmon oil, and flaxseed are high in omega-3 fatty acids, providing skin and coat support. Biotin is another key ingredient that helps regenerate skin and hair cells. Other secondary ingredients like sun-cured alfalfa, apples, carrots, and cranberries all include nutrients that benefit your dog's skin and coat.

Like the Sensitivities range, most Skin + Coat Care dry dog foods include a single animal protein source and have modest protein levels. Skin + Coat Care Chicken with Grains has above-average protein (26.6% as dry matter) and near-average fat (15.5% as dry matter) when weighed up against standard kibbles.

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, biotins, and natural vitamins and minerals, Go! Solutions Skin + Coat Care is a good option if you're looking to provide your pup's skin and fur with a little extra support.

Go! Solutions Skin + Coat Care wet dog food

Skin + Coat Care wet recipes are similar to all Go! Solutions' other wet foods, with primary ingredients like quality meat, broth, and chicken liver. It's a grain-inclusive range with brown rice as the ninth or tenth ingredient.

Two out of three recipes feature fish that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, while they all include fatty acid-rich sunflower oil, salmon oil, and flaxseed. Other common nutritious ingredients include carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and egg whites.

Go! Solutions Skin + Coat Care recipes are high in protein, but some are a little high in fat for our liking. For example, the Shredded Chicken with Grains recipe contains above-average protein (47.2% as dry matter) and fat (27.7% as dry matter) compared to typical wet dog foods.

Go! Solutions Weight Management + Joint Care & Digestion + Gut Health Dog Foods

Go! Solutions Weight Management + Joint Care dry dog food

Weight Management + Joint Care is grain-free, with two dry food recipes available. They have very similar contents to the Sensitivities range, with a single protein source followed by peas, tapioca, meat meals, and potatoes.

Go! Solutions use a couple of unusual, high-quality ingredients to help combat weight gain and joint inflammation. One ingredient is New Zealand green mussels, which studies show can reduce joint pain and arthritis symptoms. Another is psyllium husk, which can facilitate weight loss by helping pups feel fuller for longer.

Overall, these recipes are lower in protein and fat than the rest of Go! Solutions offerings. Weight Management + Joint Care Chicken contains just 24.4% protein as dry matter and 11.1% fat — perfect for maintaining your mutt's ideal weight.

Go! Solutions Digestion + Gut Health dry dog food

Digestion + Gut Health lists chicken meal as the primary ingredient, with quality cuts of meat further down the list. How do these foods promote digestive and gut health? With psyllium husk to aid digestion and several high-fiber whole grains, which promote healthy bowel movements.

Each recipe also contains dried chicory root, which contains inulin, a prebiotic dietary fiber that helps beneficial bowel bacteria grow. Antioxidant-rich produce like apples, carrots, and cranberries support immunity, helping to prevent upset stomachs.

Go! Solutions Digestion + Gut Health recipes have macronutrient levels to the Weight Management + Joint Care range. Digestion + Gut Health Chicken with Grains consists of 26.6% protein as dry matter and 13.3% fat as dry matter.

Concerns & considerations

Affordability

Go! Solutions dog food is on the pricey side, which is not surprising given its quality. At the time of writing, a 22-lb bag of Go! Solutions Carnivore Grain-Free Chicken, Turkey + Duck Adult Dry Dog Food costs $78.99 on Chewy, at $3.60 per lb.

By comparison, a 22.5-lb bag of Instinct Original Adult Grain-Free Real Chicken Dry Dog Food costs $77.99 on Chewy, at $3.46 per lb.

Concerns about dog foods high in peas, lentils, and other legumes

Many Go! Solutions dog foods list peas, legumes, and lentils in the top ten ingredients, which may concern some pet parents.

In 2018, the FDA began investigating links between dog foods high in "peas, lentils, and other legume seeds" and the development of a non-hereditary enlarged heart (DCM). Initially, this investigation focused on grain-free diets, but a 2024 update suggests the FDA's investigation includes grain-free and grain-inclusive dog foods.

Go! Solutions wasn't one of the frequently reported brands in the FDA's initial reports and customer reviews and feedback on Go! Solutions has been positive. The FDA's investigation is ongoing, and there is no definitive link between certain dog foods and DCM. Consult your vet if you have any concerns about feeding your dog a diet high in peas, lentils, and legumes.
