Wildwood Valley
Thirteen miles southwest from Allens Corners, the community of Wildwood Valley is easily accessible to Interstate 90 and Randall Road. Schweitzer Woods Forest Preserve is a beautiful 160-acre space that provides a 5 acre off-leash dog area where pups can explore without being tied down. Water and trash cans are provided. However, please remember to bring your own poop-bags. The local Subaru dealership loves pups! They have a little dog park located on the property so potential buyers can bring their dogs along! If you’re needing a pick-me-up, Café Roma and In the Neighborhood are the local eateries that cater to dogs.

Sleepy Hollow
This literary named city may sound frightening, but it is anything but. It offers plenty of dining, entertainment, recreation and shopping 10 miles east of Allens Corner overlooking the Fox River. Schweitzer’s Woods Forest Preserve is close by and is a really neat space to take your dog for on-leash exercise on their hiking trails, and their on-site dog park is a 5-acre space where your pup can scratch and sniff off leash! The Fox River Trail is another great outing you can enjoy with your leashed pup. It’s a long multipurpose activity trail that used to be an old railroad!12

South Elgin
This family-friendly locality is scenically situated along the Fox River and is easily accessible from Highway 20 and Saint Charles Street. The Fox River Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path are both part of the nationwide Rails-To-Trails Conservancy project that repurposes old, unused railroad tracks into multipurpose exercise trails across the country! Dogs that are kept on leash are encouraged to make use of these awesome walking trails. Remodeling? Home Depot is dog-friendly and lets you kill two birds with one stone; take Fido for a walk and run an errand all at the same time!

Sycamore
Sycamore is located 20 minutes south west from Allens Corners, where it features plenty of local parks, water features, shipping and dining. Katz Dog Park is in close proximity and is a great place to take your dog for off-leash exercise and socialization! It is securely gated, has separate areas for large and small dogs, drinking fountains, waste stations, benches and shade. There is also a plethora of public parks in the area including Sycamore Lake Rotary Park, Old Mill Park, and Brothers Park, all of which permit on-leash pups to stroll their sidewalks and play in their open grass areas!
