East Pittsfiled
In the East Pittsfield neighborhood, of the town of Pittsfield, 7 miles southwest of Newport, you can check out Manson Park to add to your must-visit list! Situated along the Sebasticook River, it offers 45 acres of amenities. There are sports courts, softball fields, and horseshoe pits to try your luck. Or try Hawthorne Park where you can take Fifi for an on-leash walk along the paved paths which meander throughout the park. During the summer months, this park is transformed into a local Farmer’s Market, where you and your fur-ever friend will find the perfect fresh ingredients for dinner.36

North Palmyra
In the North Palmyra neighborhood, in the town of Palmyra, 3.7 miles west of Newport, an outdoor adventure is waiting for you and Fido at the St. Albans Game Management Area. There are 417 acres to explore throughout. Water fowl predominate the landscape here, so it is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Go hiking for miles with your fur-ever friend by your side throughout. It is rare that you will run into another person, so Fido is often welcome to investigate off leash. Hunting is allowed on Saturdays in October and November, so plan accordingly. Be sure to pack plenty of water.

Waverly
Pinnacle Park is where you and Fido can head during the dog days of summer, in the Waverly neighborhood of the town of Pittsfield, 7 miles southwest of Newport. Enjoy the countryside and scenery here while walking Fido throughout on the groomed trails. These trails are used during the winter months for skiers, as this is a well-known ski location. It is the perfect place to spend summer hiking with your fur-ever friend by your side. Please keep Fido on leash here, and pack plenty of water to share. Cleaning up after them will keep this area pup-friendly for all.

South Palmyra
The Madawaska Marsh Game Management Area is your ticket to a fresh air, outdoor adventure for you and your pawtastic pup in the South Palmyra neighborhood, in the town of Palmyra, a short 3.7-mile drive west of Newport. The area offers 291 acres for you and your pup to explore. There are hiking trails and picnic areas, off the beaten paths, where you can carve your own way. This area is open to hunters during certain times of the year, so be sure to check ahead of time to avoid this area during those dedicated times. Your pup is welcome off leash.

Northeast Newport
In the Northeast neighborhood of Newport, head to the Sebasticook Lake for some premier fishing and pup swimming! This stocked lake is full of fish for fly fishermen or casters. Also called Newport Pond, you can find many out-of-the-way places where you can relax together until the fish start biting. This is also a great place to take Fido for a walk along the shore, or even a swim in the cool waters, where he can enjoy some off-leash time. Be sure to pack food and plenty of water to share as well as sunscreen and tick repellant. No designated restroom facilities are here so plan accordingly.
