Montpelier
In the neighborhood of Montpelier, in the town of Thomaston, 4 miles northwest of South Thomaston, you and your puptastic friend can enjoy the Thomaston Dog Park. Off leash fun abounds here where Fido can run with his new-found friends! This park is huge and offers nice amenities for your pup. There is lots of grass to roll in, bushes to lie under, and a summer pool for cooling down. Toys are provided as well as water and bowls. Pup owners get to sit in the shade of a gazebo to watch the fun! Keep your leashes at home here!36
Northeast Owls Head
Visit the Owls Head State Park, in the Northeast Owls Head neighborhood, in the town of Owls Head, 5 miles northeast of South Thomaston. This puptastic park is a historic area where visitors can enjoy views of the 1852 lighthouse which looks down on the adjacent Penobscot Bay. There is access here to the rocky beach of the bay and picnic tables to enjoy lunch with your pawtastic pup. Take Fido on a stroll to view this magnificent structure and park. Be sure to keep your pup on leash throughout, and bring clean up mitts to keep this park pup-friendly.

Rockland South
In the Rockland South neighborhood, of the town of Rockland, 4 miles north of South Thomaston, you should check out the Snow Marine Park, which lies on Rockland Harbor. This small park with open grassy areas is the perfect place for you and Fido to relax the day away. There are no restrooms here so plan accordingly. Or why not head over to Harbor Park which also lies on the harbor where people frequent with picnic baskets to sit and share lunch with their pawtastic friend. A beautiful scenic view of the water is right in front of you here.

South Owls Head
Pack up your pup and head to the Birch Point Beach State Park, 5 miles northeast of South Thomaston, in the town of Owls Head. This park features 62 acres of outdoor bliss for you and Fido! There is a small admission fee from Memorial to Labor Day, but the rest of the year offers free admission and the ability to allow your pups to romp on sand beaches and in the waters of Penobscot Bay! Be advised that restrooms are closed during these free admission months. Your fur-ever friend must always remain on leash.
Southern Thomaston
Two pawtastic parks can be found in the South Thomaston neighborhood, in the town of Thomaston, 4 miles northwest of the town of South Thomaston. First, head over to Mayo Park where their open landscaped area is the perfect place for laying out a blanket and relaxing the day away with your pup by your side. Benches are provided throughout. Or check out Mill River Park’s rolling landscaped open grassy areas, perfect for taking Fido on an on-leash walk. Pick up the Thomaston Village Trail here which is a pup-tastic 3-mile stroll through the village and along the water’s edge.
