Overview

Are you and your fur-baby fans of serious cinema? Drama is a broad genre that can be thrilling, gritty, heartbreaking, and everything in between. There are even "pawlenty" of dramas that feature adorable doggos! Pull up a chair for your pooch, grab the snacks, and watch one of these top 5 dramas to watch with your dog!

Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)

Make sure you have the tissues on standby for this one. Hachi: A Dog's Tale is the tale of Parker Wilson (Richard Gere) and his bond with an Akita named Hachi. Parker goes off to work on a train  every day, while Hachi waits for him at the train station. The film takes a turn when Parker doesn't return to the train station, and Hachi is left waiting.

Machi: A Dog's Tale is based on a true story of a Tokyo pup named Hachikō, who used to wait at a train station for their owner even after they had passed away. Today, you can find a statue of Hachikō outside Shibuya Station in Tokyo. It's one of the most famous dramas featuring dogs; just make sure you have your pup to cuddle during the film's heartbreaking finale!

Megan Leavey (2017)

Megan Leavey tells the true story of a United States Marine corporal and her military working dog, a German Shepherd named Rex. Initially an aggressive dog, Leavey and Rex form an unbreakable bond before and during their deployment in Iraq. When Leavey is injured by an improvised explosive, she returns home, but without Rex.

It's a heartfelt and stirring story about the relationship between a veteran and her military working dog that will leave a frog in the throat of any loving pup parent.
