Bunn, North Carolina wasn't founded because of the railroad, although the rail line is still the lifeline of this little town. Bunn, North Carolina was founded because of the timber in the area. Thanks to the thriving lumber industry in this quaint North Carolina locale, the railroad was established in the early 20th century.

Not only is this rural town known for its industry, but it's also in a scenic, central location. In just a couple of hours, you can drive to the ocean or head the opposite way to see the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

While you are here, you will want to stop by Vollmer Farm. Depending on the season, you can spend some time picking fresh strawberries or a big pumpkin! No matter the season, you have to try the fresh ice cream, made only from what they get right there on the farm.

If you want something more adventurous, go over to Tar River Life. This is where you can go tubing with your best fur-iend and live on the edge! You should also stop by the local vet's office and see what other dog-friendly events you could explore while you are here.

Grab a leash. Get in the car. Drive for fifteen minutes, and get some of the best pub food you could imagine. Real McCoys is elevated pub fare that makes your mouth water when you are just reading the menu. Your dog can join you at any of the outdoor tables as long as you have a leash with you. The locals rave about the piping hot pig skins served with their very own BBQ sauce. Of course, if you want something a little more filling, you could try the pig and fig sandwich. It is unique as it is yummy!

Rails-to-Trails is an amazing conservation effort that has set up the Louisburg Bike Trail up just ten miles from you. This set of bike trails is perfect to walk your dog down because it runs right through the heart of the city. It follows the same pathway as the former rail line. It begins at the community college and takes you to the old train depot where you can learn more about the area's historical significance. You will need to bring your own water because there is no running water here. You will also have to keep your dog on their leash.

Mexican food is a staple in the south. It's no wonder why -- just thinking about the crunch of the tacos, the sizzle of the fajitas, and the never-ending salsa is enough to make your mouth water! If you're hankering for some delicious Mexican fare, head to Fiesta Mexicana, which is only ten miles from you. You can grab your dog's leash and take him with you, too! You'll both love the tacos and enchiladas because they are made fresh (and should be their very own food group). All of the outdoor tables are pet-friendly and waiting for you to claim them!

It is time for you and your dog to go on a great adventure and make it your very own. Come on down and visit Falls Lake Trail. This is a five-mile branch of the larger 65-mile trail that runs from the dam down to the ocean. You certainly don't have to take on the whole trail, but you can if you want to! You should expect to see breathtaking views that showcase the countryside. While you are here, you will need to bring your own supplies. There isn't a building for miles. You should keep your dog on a leash simply because there is so much wildlife to chase here.
