Nanticoke is a compact city that fits over ten thousand people into 3.5 miles of town space! You're never far from things in Nanticoke. The Nanticoke Animal Hospital is near the center of town, meaning you're never far from urgent assistance. With parks and trails ripe for exploring, Nanticoke is a puppy paradise!

Mullen's View is a Nanticoke trail that's a must-see for any hiking fan in the area. This moderately steep climb is a 2.5 mile out and back trail that takes you into the hills. Get a great view of Nanticoke with your dog by your side! If you're looking for even more of a challenge, the Penobscot Ridge Mountain Bike Trail is another great choice. As the name states, the trail is primarily used for cyclists; it's an out and back trail, so just turn back whenever you feel you've gone far enough! There are picnic tables and a parking area at the trailhead.

If hiking just isn't your thing, Canal Park is a great place to go. This small park has a boat launch right on the river. You can get in a great river view and take your dog for an amble rather than a hike.

Visit Nanticoke for a furrtastic dog-friendly time!

The Newport Wanamie Recreation area is a grassy, open park located in the Wanamie neighborhood of Nanticoke. This park is divided into three rough sections. The first and the largest is the baseball diamond! There are modest stands, and the area is frequently used for league sports. The second is an open, grassy sports field. It's often marked off for soccer or football, and is a fantastic place to walk your dog! The third section is a simple grassy space with a couple of picnic tables. This park is a great place to go to burn off energy. Take the walking path that runs the perimeter of the park for a great, looped walk!

West Side Park has two full sized basketball courts, but it's more famous for its full size soccer field! This park is grass, grass, and more grass. If you just want to take your dog to a convenient Alden Manor location to walk out their energy, this park is for you. What it lacks in amenities, it makes up in sheer size! You don't have to do ten laps to get your steps in here! Just make sure to bring your own water in with you; there's little shade, and the park's drinking fountains can't be operated by doggie paws!

Nanticoke Town Square is a literal square! This park makes up one city block in the bustling Downtown Nanticoke area. Despite the business of the area, Nanticoke Town Square is a gorgeous and simple step into nature. The square has plenty of trees to block the sights and sounds of the city. There are four paths that run from the corners of this park to the center, which is marked with a statue. This park is peaceful. Without a playground or sports fields, it doesn't draw a lot of kids. Bring a blanket to read a book with your pup, or just walk in peace!

Luzerne County Property is seven minutes from Nanticoke. It's more than worth the drive to get to this sprawling, immense property. Leash up your dog and park along the side of Harveys Creek for a little swimming action! This park is very natural, with few amenities. You should bring in more than enough water and a doggie bowl to share it, but there's no reason to stop there. This property is great for picnics! Meadows are ripe for turning into sports fields, and while there isn't a playground, there are more than enough rocks, trees, and spaces to explore to make up for it!

Honeypot Field in Nanticoke's Garfield neighborhood is a cute name for a cute park! Much of the area is given over to a large baseball diamond. Besides the field and the bandstands, there's a lot of room for you and your dog to explore! There's an open, grassy field perfect for letting your pup follow their nose in. High energy dogs don't have to drag you back and forth, either. You can also head into the wooded area to follow the short path through the trees. Be sure to keep your pup on leash in the park, and remember to BYOW--bring your own water! Honeypot Field doesn't have a drinking fountain.
