Hi! My name is Kirby and I am a lifelong animal lover, especially dogs and cats. I currently own a pit bull mix named Wilma and tabby cat named Fred, and these two are the loves of my life. Growing up I participated in dog agility and obedience with our family dog, and I have experience volunteering at a dog shelter in Binghamton, NY. I understand the importance of patience, respect, and compassion when interacting with animals and I will treat your dog as if it is my own.

“Dogs Are My Life and Love”
Hi my name is Sarah and I live in Dickson City, PA. I have adored dogs since I was a little kid, and had a Black Labrador and Manchester Terrier growing up. I was a dog walker all throughout high school for my neighbors and friends. I loved walking their dogs, because I got to know them and become their friend. I am fantastic with dogs and know how to communicate with them on their level. I will accommodate your needs for your dog, and treat them like royalty. I hope to be your next dog walker!

Duryea is a borough in Luzerne County. This rural community stems from humble beginnings. In 1770, one of the first settlers to the area built a single log cabin on what is now known as Main Street. As more settlers arrived, the town became a mining and farming community. Today, Duryea is a rural community that enjoys the beauty of being set against both the Susquehanna and Lackawanna Rivers. Although it doesn’t have its own veterinary clinic, local dogs know care is just minutes away in the neighboring community of Old Forge.
Healey Park may be on the smaller side, but it’s a great place to go for an afternoon stroll. The park features a playground and a couple basketball courts. Your pooch can practice socializing with two legged friends as she sniffs around. This park also hosts special events throughout the year like Easter egg hunts and Halloween Parties.
The Community Park is another pawsome walking locale. Take your furry pal for a brisk walk around the paved trail that runs along the outside of the park. She’ll get to watch the action in the park while getting in some doggy cardio.
With such puptastic places to walk, it’s no wonder dogs love living in Duryea!
Does your pup need to burn some energy? Head over to The Garden Village Dog Park for some off leash fun. Located in Pittston, this park is just a bone’s throw away from Duryea. Your pal can check his leash at the gate, then run around to his heart’s content. Not only will he get tuckered out, he’ll also make some furrific four legged friends. Bring his favorite ball for a game of fetch or just let him trot around on his own. Water is provided, but be sure to bring a bowl for your thirsty pup.
Looking for a new place to walk your pup? Clip on her leash and head over to the Riverfront Park in Pittston. Since it’s situated right on the banks of the Susquehanna River, your pal can soak in the riverfront view as he works out. If he’s an art lover, be sure to check out the unique sculptures that are scattered throughout the park. Benches are available, so take time to sit and admire the mighty river while your pup enjoys some good old fashioned people watching. Don’t forget to bring water and clean up bags. No bones about it, your pup will love this park!
Old Forge just happens to be Duryea’s next door neighbor, and is also home to a couple pawsome parks that are worth checking out. Pack up your pooch and head over to Marion Park for some fun in the sun. This park features a playground, and basketball and tennis courts. More importantly, it has a great paved walking path that’s prefect for walking your furry best friend. Walk, jog, or run around the park a couple times to get your pup’s heart rate pumping. Don’t forget to bring some water for a post workout refreshment. Anthony Pero Park is another option in this area. If a wide open grassy field is your dog’s cup of tea, he’ll love this park.
An afternoon in McDade Park will make your pup a happy hound. This county park is located in Taylor, and only 15 minutes away from Duryea. It sprawls across 180 acres and is chock full of puptastic amenities. Two legged visitors will love the sport courts, ball fields, playground, and fishing ponds. Four legged visitors will more impressed with the massive lawn areas and network of paved walking paths. Your pup will grin from ear to ear as she struts her stuff around the park. Since this is a pupular place, she’ll have plenty of opportunity to meet new friends. Keep in mind, dogs are not allowed in the playgrounds or ball fields.
All the cool canines and hot dogs hang out in the Connell Dog Park. Don’t let your pup miss out on all the pawsome fun! It’s located in Scranton, and only a 15 minute drive from Duryea. Watch your pup’s tail wag with glee as she darts and dashes around the grassy area with new playmates. There’s plenty of room for romping and wrestling, so she’s sure to get tuckered out. Since small dogs have their own section, petite pooches can enjoy a stress free visit to the park. Water is available, but please bring your own clean up bags.
