South Greenfield Township
Merli Sarnoski Park is right on the border of Carbondale and Greenfield Township. It’s a two minute drive across the border, but it would be worth it even if it were much further! This huge park has everything an active pup could want. It circles Mountain Mud Pond, which is large enough to almost be a lake! The park is well outfitted with picnic spots! Relax by the water or enjoy the shade of the trees. There are several walking paths through the park, all rated easy to moderate. You won’t work up a running sweat, but your dog will still enjoy it!36

Central Jermyn
The Rippy Callahan Recreational Park is a fourteen minute drive down the road from Carbondale. This Central Jermyn gem is a large, active park with plenty to offer. Your leashed dog won’t even mind the tether when you take them on a tour of the grounds. The extensive green space is punctuated with sports fields, from soccer to baseball. You can take the path around the playground to add a few more steps to your exercise regimen. When you’re tired out, you can relax. There’s a picnic area with a shade stand to protect from the sun, so you can stay all day.24

East Jermyn
Aylesworth Park in the East Jermyn neighborhood is a short fourteen minute drived from the heart of Carbondale, but it's definitely worth it! The area is split between a sports ready meadow and Aylesworth Creek Lake. If your dog is more of a people person, hang out in the sports section to watch the people come and go. If your dog (or yourself!) would prefer to have space, never fear. Head over to the lake for ample room to roam. The lake is popular for wading and fishing, but you can walk the path around the shore and have lots of space to yourself.12

South Carbondale
Russell Park is a large park with plenty to do! Leash up your pup and head into the large, grassy fields to sniff and explore. If your high energy dog needs a mission, walking laps in this park could be a challenge! There’s more than just walking to do here. Kids will love the playground, equipped with climbing equipment, slides, and swings. Sports fans will be able to play a pick up game on the baseball field, or watch an existing team practice or play! This large park has room to spread out, so bring the whole pack for a day of fun.
Downtown Carbondale
The Carbondale Skate Park is a unique place to walk your dog in Downtown Carbondale! This park doesn’t have much in the way of amenities, but it does have room to explore! If you want to watch some sick tricks while getting in a good walk, this is the place to go. If your dog hates wheeled sports equipment (or loves it a little too much!) Gravity Park is a better spot. This grassy neighborhood park has a small gazebo and a couple park benches where you can rest in the shade. Your leashed dog will enjoy following the little path through this corner park!
