It’s tough being cooped up all day. Whether you’re a pup, a child, or even an adult, a change of scenery is sometimes just needed. If you’re feeling for a change of tempo, leash up your pooch, grab some snacks for the kiddos, and then head on out to Pena Adobe Dog Park. Pena Adobe is a fenced-in dog park that has lots of trees and a few water fountains. Just a few skips away is a playground for older kids and a “tot lot” for the little ones. Dogs must be on their leashes at all times.

Another fun-for-the-whole-family park is North Orchard Park. North Orchard Park is located on North Orchard Drive (fitting, right?), and it has amenities for everyone: playground for the kids, a half-court basketball court, tennis courts, and a multi-purpose field for the athletic folks, a walking path lit with streetlamps in the evening, and a doggie waste station to make cleaning up after your pup a breeze. Dogs must be on their leashes and cleaned up after.

Hawkins Park is a dog-friendly park located on Summerfield Drive. There are quite a few trees on the side of the park closest to the road, but all other areas of the park can get quite warm, so mornings and evenings are the best times to visit this park if the sun is scorching. A half-court basketball court, a few tennis courts, a big-kid playground, a toddler’s playground, and free poop bags are just a few of the luxuries this park offers. Again, dogs must be on their leashes and cleaned up after.

This area is nestled on the outskirts of the city center, but still close enough to enjoy everything it offers for you and your pup. Rover can have a pup-tastic adventure at Kennedy Park, which has an off-leash dog park area for him to explore and socialize. He’s free to have fun in the rest of the 350-acre park, too! Keep him leashed to go for a walk or jog, take a dip in the water, and visit kids on the playground. When his belly starts to growl, head over to In-N-Out Burger, where you can order a plain beef patty for him to snack on.
