If you and Fido want to go on a road trip, check out Woodland, California. This charming city in central California is known for its gorgeous mountain views and small-town atmosphere because it is a bit of a distance from the city. There are almost 13,000 dogs living in Woodland, so it has a variety of dog-friendly places to go.
After the car ride, it may be time to take your furbaby off the leash and let him run with the other dogs at Woodland Dog Park on East Street & 24A. It is completely fenced and has separate large and small dog areas. You can relax freely (and hopefully stress-free!) on one of the benches with the other dog lovers while your pup gets rid of that excess energy. There are drinking fountains and restrooms and don’t forget to use the doggy poo waste bags and receptacles.
Ready for a hike? Grizzly Island is an amazing experience for any hiker, no matter their skill level. They have 75 miles of marsh, wetlands, woods, and prairies where you can see waterfowl, hawks, pheasant, elk, rabbit, and even a fox or bobcat if you are lucky. With all the wildlife, there are no grizzly bears, so I am not sure why they call it Grizzly Island. Nobody has seen a grizzly there since 1922!
