Benches and shade trees are available for added comfort. The park also offers water for thirsty pups. You will want to bring extra water and also doggie waste bags. Something to keep in mind is that there is no grass here; the surface of the park is covered in wood chips, which means no dirt or grass in your pup's fur!

Jacob Ln

This pawesome neighborhood has a fantastic trail for you and your pooch to hike. The American River Bike Trail (Jedehiah Smith Memorial Trail) is a nice hiking trail that is part of the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy. This easy, paved trail stretches for 32 miles along the banks of the American River. This is a wide, two-lane trail that is shaded most of the way. There are water fountains, restrooms and trailside maps at various points along the trail. If you get hungry or your pooch wants a snack, there are places to stop and eat as well. You will want to bring some doggie waste bags with you. Grab your pup's leash and enjoy a fun walk through nature!

Meadowview

Looking to get some mutts-needed exercise? Head on down to Bill Conlin Sports Complex in Sacramento's Meadowview neighborhood, located just 10 miles from Carmichael. No, there's no dog park here, but you will find a trailhead for the Sacramento River Parkway Trail, which is part of the Rails-To-Trails program. This trail is paved and stretches across 9.3 miles along the Sacramento River. If you need to stop to rest, you'll find benches and restrooms along the trail. You will want to pack extra water and some doggie waste bags. Put on your walking shoes, grab your pup's leash, and come on out to see how much of this trail you can tackle!

North Natomas

This pawesome neighborhood is located about 10 miles from Carmichael, California and is home to the Natomas Regional Park. This off-leash dog park encompasses 2 fenced-in acres, so there is plenty of room for your pooch to run around freely. There are also separate areas for different sized dogs. The park offers waste stations for easier clean up along with water bowls for thirsty dogs. There are plenty of shade trees here in addition to benches where you can relax while your pup plays.
