Elverta

Do your dogs look to get outside every chance they get? If you live right in the heart of Elverta, you can visit the undeveloped forest of Ponderosa Farm Community Park. This densely wooded area is a great place to hike and explore with Fido. If your dogs need a little more structure, the other option is the Sacramento Northern Bikeway. This 9.8-mile trail tours the communities surrounding Elverta through historic neighborhoods and parks before finally ending in Sacramento. The best spot is around the 6-mile mark where you'll cross a series of bridges underneath a canopy of trees. As you continue to hike you'll see cattle grazing in the fields on your left -- a sight to get Fido's tail wagging!

Do your dogs consider the words "dog park" the best two words to ever be "mutt-ered?" If you drive 5 minutes south down into Rio Linda, you can visit the Westside Park, which is outfitted with an off-leash dog park just for Fido! Westside Park has softball fields and tons of open space where you can play fetch with your pups. There are a few shady areas, but it's best to pick a time when it's not too hot for Fido. Within the park, you'll find the off-leash dog park which is rarely busy. The play area is fenced-off and has running water for Fido to drink after chasing their four-legged neighbors around! Don't forget your dog's favorite tennis ball!

Do your dogs go mutts when they catch the scent of delicious Mexican food? In Carmichael, you can visit the pet-friendly Garcia Mexicana for a lively and belly-filling night alongside Fido! The outside seating area at Garcia Mexicana is for the doggos of the party! You can munch your way through authentic south of the border options like Chile Relleno, Tampico Stuffed Chicken, or the Grilled Margarita Chicken Burrito. Fido's licking his lips just thinking about visiting Garcia Mexicana. After a great meal, you can head over to Eugene H. Ahner Park to enjoy the California weather! Your dog's ready "whenevfur!"

Do your dogs know when the fridge is empty it's time for them to hop in the car for a meal out on the town? If you drive south into Natomas Park neighborhood of Sacramento, the pet-friendly options stretch out furever! The neighborhood is only a 13-minute drive toward the hub of pet-friendly restaurants like Pete's Natomas or the Waffle Experience.
