Looking for some places to take Fido in Wake Forest, North Carolina? This little city’s got you covered! Check out Flaherty Dog Park, the city’s off-leash area for pooches. It is approximately two acres large, so there’s plenty of space for you and Fido to play. Flaherty Park is open from dawn to dusk daily. Your dog will be safe in the fenced-in space, with a double-gated entry area to prevent escape. In addition, the park is accessible to those pet owners with physical handicaps. Amenities include a five-foot high fence, water stations, sanitation stations, covered picnic tables, and lots of grassy space!

The town of Wake Forest maintains over a dozen public trails. Leashed pets are welcome in these spaces. A quarter-mile nature trail is located in Flaherty Park – perfect to help Fido cool down and relax after lots of socialization and play in the dog park

For something a little longer, try the Dunn Creek Greenway, which is about a mile long. It meanders through protected wetland areas and beautiful evergreen forests. Feel free to park at the Smith Creek Soccer Center before accessing the trailhead. For even longer trails, check out the three-miles worth of paths at the E. Carroll Joyner Park.
