Iverness, a hop and a skip away, is a must-see location while you’re in the Holder area. In this neighborhood, you’ll find Bark Central Dog Park, a 15-acre, off-leash park for your precious pup to go dog wild while exploring. Separated into two sections for large and small dogs, each section features a filtered swimming pool for your pup to get his paws wet, as well as rolling hills and plenty of trees for shade. Don’t sweat bringing the doggy waste bags -- there are plenty provided throughout the park, as well as scoopers, should you need one.

A definite stop on your doggy to-do list is Crystal River, home of the Florida Manatee Adventure tours. With private tours on the river, as well as customized tours and dolphin tours in addition to the manatee tours, you and your dog are sure to learn lots from your well-versed captain. Rainbow Springs State Park features three such waterfalls, and plenty of shade for you and your pup to enjoy while walking the paths of the park. Perfect on a warm day, Rainbow Springs has scenery that simply can’t be beat. Bring you and your pup plenty of fresh drinking water, as well as some doggy waste bags to pick up after puppy. You’ll want to keep it clean!

Last but not least by any means, mosey on over to Central Homosassa and enter Citrus County Dog Park. An off-leash dog park where your dog can go wild, it’s perfect for the pup that’s well-socialized. Your dog will need to be able to follow verbal commands, and you’ll need to bring doggy waste bags to clean up after your pup. Although treats and edible toys are not allowed, you’re free to bring puppy’s playthings. Toss around a frisbee, or bring a tuggy rope to challenge your dog with -- you’ll have a ball! A tennis ball, that is.
