Tucked into the Boise River floodplain lies the pet-friendly and lushly forested neighborhoods of Garden City, Idaho. Garden City is technically part of Boise but retains its own municipality. Plenty of streams — jettying off the Boise River — carry salmon and steelhead trout, making the area great for fishing. The origins of the city tell stories of seasonal encampments of Native Americans before the explorers and trappers migrated to the land. A group of 11 prospectors found an impressive amount of placer gold in the mountains of the Boise Basin. Since then, many have flocked to Garden City to live within a thriving, amiable paradise.
