Apple Drive
For a great walk with your dog, head over to Willow Trails Park. This park has a walking path that’s flat and paved, providing an easy and fun walk for you and your pup. Dogs are welcome in this park on-leash. After you’re finished with your walk, grab lunch with your dog at nearby Players Pub and Grill. This restaurant serves delicious and hearty pub fare, like jumbo wings, half-pound burgers with unique toppings, and their signature mac n’ cheese. Dogs are allowed on this casual restaurant’s spacious patio.

Willow Road
Looking for a furrific park where you can spend the day with your pup? Head over to Izaak Walton Park, where dogs are allowed on-leash. This lovely little park has a sensory garden you can explore with your dog. There’s also a viewing area overlooking the park’s wetlands, and there’s a large shelter where you can have a picnic with your dog. For another nice walk, check out Patriots Park. Dogs are welcome on-leash in this park, which has a paved path that goes along a creek. Whichever park you choose, you’re sure to have a great day out with your dog!

West Lake Forest
West Lake Forest is home to the fun Prairie Wolf Dog Park. This park is about 13 miles from Prospect Heights, and it features a huge 44-acre off-leash area. There’s plenty of space for your dog to run and play, and there’s a pond for them to splash around in. If your dog gets thirsty after playing, there are doggy water fountains in the dog park. To use this great dog park, you’ll have to get a daily permit, which can be purchased online or at the self-pay station located right outside of the dog park. If you’re planning on going to Prairie Wolf Dog Park frequently, annual permits are also available.

Lake View East
If you and your pup both love soaking in the sun on the beach, head over Belmont Harbor Dog Beach. This beach is located in Chicago’s Lake View East neighborhood, about 22 miles from Prospect Heights. The water here isn’t very ruff, making it easy for dogs to swim and splash around. Bring your pup some water to drink and some doggy bags, and have a furrific time here! If all that swimming makes you hungry, get lunch with your dog at nearby Mortar & Pestle. This restaurant serves globally-inspired cuisine, and their eclectic menu includes everything from Alaskan king crab benedict to caviar and chips. They welcome dogs at their seven outdoor tables.

North Wood Dale Road
This Wood Dale neighborhood is home to the White Oaks Dog Park. This dog park is about 17 miles from Prospect Heights, and it has separate areas for large and small dogs. There’s also fun agility equipment for your pup to play on. Bring your dog a tennis ball and some water to drink, and have fun playing here. If you’re hungry after the park, bring your dog to nearby White Cottage Pizzeria. This Italian eatery welcomes dogs at their outdoor tables, and they serve both thin-crust pizza and Chicago-style stuffed pizza. If you’re not in the mood for pizza, they also have salads, subs, burgers, and pasta dishes.
