Miami State Recreation Area is another good place to go for a hike with your pup. This state recreation area is about 25 miles from Logansport, in Peru, and it allows dogs on-leash. The park  offers several trails for you and Fido to traverse. If you want to get great views of Mississinewa Lake, take the 2.5-mile Blue Heron Trail. Or, if you’d like to go through wooded areas and meadows, check out the 1.5-mile Moswa Trail. This 1.3-mile trail follows the Eel River, and it has great views the whole way through. The trail is flat and paved, making it easy for your dog to walk on, and there are plenty of trees to keep the path shady and cool on hot days. Bring water and doggy bags with you, and have a great time walking this path with your pup! If all that walking makes you hungry, head over to nearby Buffalo Wild Wings. This casual eatery has dog-friendly outdoor tables and serves all your sports bar favorites.

After you’re finished at Riverside Park, walk over the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the Eel River and check out Huston Park. This 80-acre park has paved walking trails through the woods that you can explore with your pup. This dog park is about 24 miles from Logansport, and it includes separate areas for large and small dogs. The park also has lots of agility equipment for your dog to play on, including ramps, hoops, and hurdles. If your dog gets thirsty after playing on the equipment, water is available for them. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with a snack or lunch at Cook McDoogal’s Irish Pub. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy traditional Irish fare, including corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, and Shepherd’s pie.

Both areas also have plenty of space for dogs to run around, and there are lots of trees to keep the park cool on hot days. While your dog plays, you can watch from one of the park’s picnic tables.     This Delphi neighborhood is located 24 miles from Logansport, and it’s home to Wabash and Erie Canal Park. If you want to see the whole park, take the Wabash and Erie Canal Loop Trail. This 1.7-mile trail gives you amazing views of the canals, and you’ll also get to see the historic Red Iron Bridge and Stone Arch Bridge. Dogs are welcome on-leash in this pawesome park. If you need a pick-me-up after the park, head over to Garden Gate Tea House. This cute tea house allows dogs at their two outdoor tables and serves over forty types of teas. To eat, they offer soups, salads, and sandwiches.
